In 2020, Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers were able to exorcise their postseason demons. The franchise won its first World Series Championship in more than three decades, while Kershaw was able to shed the ‘can’t win the big one’ label that had previously followed him around his entire career. Now, with his legacy firmly intact, the three-time Cy Young Award winner is openly contemplating his future. In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Kershaw, who is in the last year of his current contract, had this to say when asked about an extension, “I don’t know. Honestly, I wish I had an answer.” Surely, that’s not the response the Dodgers faithful were hoping to hear, but at least the team brought in some reinforcements for when No. 22 does ultimately decide to hang ’em up.
Which brings us to today’s quiz of the day. Kershaw has not gotten the ball for L.A. on Opening Day the last two years, but prior to that, he was a fixture on the mound, having pitched in eight consecutive Opening Days from 2011 to 2018, a franchise record. So with that in mind, how many of the pitchers with the most Opening Day starts for every MLB franchise can you name in five minutes?
