Ghislaine Maxwell hires lawyer who defended killer henchman of Osama bin Laden – World News
The lawyer hired by Ghislaine Maxwell ahead of her trial on child grooming charges previously defended one of Osama Bin Laden’s henchmen.
Attorney Bobbi Sternheim has been retained by the former girlfriend of paedophile Jeffrey Epstein who faces court next year on charges of grooming and abusing three girls under the age of 18.
The New York “super lawyer” has previously defended gang bosses and Mafia killers, but her most high-profile client was Khaled al-Fawwaz, a lieutenant of the al-Qaeda chief.
Al-Fawwaz was jailed for life in 2015 after being convicted of conspiracy for his role in the 1998 bombings of two US embassies in Africa that killed 224 people.
Al-Fawwaz, who had lived in London, was said to have been trying to pave the way for bin Laden to move to Britain, once offering to take the BBC to interview the terror boss in his Afghan hideout.
Ms Sternheim also represented Minh Quang Pham, a former London McDonald’s worker who plotted a suicide bomb attack at Heathrow Airport.
Maxwell, 58, is currently in jail awaiting trial on grooming and abuse charges, which she denies, after being arrested in the US in July.
Papers filed at New York’s Southern District Court, signed by Sternhaim, the former head of New York Women’s Bar Association, said she “hereby app ears as counsel for defendant Ghislaine Maxwell”.
